ECO disc brake

More than two million BPW ECO disc brakes have been produced, and with modern offset single-tappet technology, it remains one of the most widely sold trailer disc brakes in Europe.

 

Trailer manufacturers previously relied on disc brake calipers derived from truck disc brakes. However, the BPW ECO disc caliper is designed and manufactured by BPW to meet the exact requirements of the trailer market specifically.

The latest TS2 disc brake version retains the robust features of the original ECO disc brake caliper but TS2 is lighter. Operating with single-tappet technology along with active pad backplate reinforcement, gives an even distribution of braking force within the brake pads and disc, ensuring a long service life.

BENEFITS

  • Compact design
    The brake calliper is designed to be mounted directly to the axle beam, thus eliminating the need for a brake carrier.
    This enables a weight saving of 12kg in a tri-axle set fitted with ECO Disc series 4309 (Ø disc 430mm for 9 t axle load).
     
  • Ease of routine maintenance
    Easy accessibility of the adjustment mechanism makes it possible to change pads quickly.
     
  • Easy disc replacement 
    Due to the ECO principle, there is no need to dismantle the brake calliper when changing the brake disc on the TS2 4309.
     
  • New seals
    Internal seals provide enhanced protection from thermal and mechanical damage, shielding the interior of the brake
    from contamination.
